Optima Technology Associates, Inc. and Sahasra Electronics Pvt. Ltd. are moving forward with plans to initiate memory chip assembly, test, and packaging (ATMP) in India for Japanese and US based brands. This effort will also plan to sell it’s own branded chips in India by the end of 2022, from India’s first memory chip ATMP plant.

Operations have been set up in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. As reported in the press recently by Mr. Amrit Manwani, chairman and managing director of Sahasra Semiconductors, an investment is being made of $US 9 million per year in the next two fiscal years. Once revenue reaches US$30 million in the first full financial year, another US$ 7 million investment is planned to reach a goal to achieve a 5-7% of the Indian market share for local semiconductors (reference DIGITIMES Asia).

After foreign brands exited India's memory market, Sahasra Semiconductors started selling products under it’s brand name. These include USB drives, SD cards, and SSDs, having originated as an Indian agent for US and Japanese based brands. Sahasra Semiconductors, established in 2020, manufactured electronic valves, tubes, and other components. Besides, Sahasra Semiconductors' other group affiliates include Optima Technology Associates, Inc., Sahasra Electronics and InfopowerTechnologies.

Sahasra Electronics is eligible for India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) incentive program for large-scale electronics manufacturing (specified electronic components), and Sahasra Semiconductors eligible for PLI for white goods (LED driver IC packaging). Sahasra Semiconductors is also approved under India's program for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS).
